PTA President’s Corner November 2017

posted in: News | 0

Wow!  October was such a great month for our Coyotes!  Our 5th annual Coyote Move-A-Thon was an amazing success!  We had such a fun-filled day of walking, running and MOVING around our course.  The total raised came to over $32,000!!  The students crushed our $25,000 goal!!!  I am looking forward to our school wide celebration on Friday, November 3rd!  And we we have the $100 Club pizza in the park party as well.  It will be a day of celebation, for sure!  And our 2nd annual Trunk or Treat was even better than last year!  So many fantastic trunks and great looking costumes!  Thanks to all who came out.

We hope you can come visit the Wild West Book Fair that will be going on November 2nd through November 10th.  Mrs. Duncan, our Media Specialist, does such a great job with this every year.  All the proceeds come right back into the Media Center.  On Tuesday, November 7th, the book fair will be open from 3-8pm so parents can come bring their student for some shopping.  That night is our Family Night and Masonic ID will be there from 5:30-8p.  This program is a FREE service provided by the The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Florida of Free and Accepted Masons of Florida.  It is performed by local Mason, families, and friends.  This service is provided to families who wish to have an ID for their child/children that can be used in case of lost or separation from parents for an extended time. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this!

One of my most favorite events that we do each year is in November.  It is our Veterans Day Celebration.  This is such a great event that allows us to thank our Veterans and make sure our students understand the sacrifice that these men and women and their families have given.  We hope you can join us on Friday, November 10th at 8:45am on the PE Court.  We have a wonderful guest speaker and musician lined up.  All are welcome!

Our Table Full of Thanks Thanksgiving lunch for our staff will be on Friday, November 17th.  The PTA will be providing the turkey but we are asking our families if they could provide the sides, we would greatly appreciate it.  Just go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d48a9a72aa5fd0-teacher4 to sign up!  Thank you for helping us show our staff how much we appreciate them!

Even though our Join the Pack! Membership Drive is over, doesn’t mean that you can’t still become a PTA member, if you haven’t already.  I strongly encourage everyone to renew or start a new membership for only $8 for the first family member and $6 for any additional members.  Anyone from parent, grandparent, other family members or friends can be a Curlew Creek Elementary PTA Member.  Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTA because they cannot come to meetings or be on campus during the day.  We want everyone to feel that they are part of the Coyote Family.  Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, your time, your talents and simply your VOICE is truly needed. We can match your time constraints and interests to needed tasks. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help.  And if you aren’t able, that’s ok too!  But by making just an $8 investment to become a PTA member, you are supporting the mission of the PTA and allowing others to help advocate for your child.

Thank you for helping us with our communication folders by returning them each Monday.  We hope this program allows you to stay-in-the-know.  These will be refilled by volunteers each Wednesday with new information and will be sent back out to our families each Friday.  If you are able to help fill these folders on a Wednesday or two, please go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d48a9a72aa5fd0-stuffing to signup!  There are almost 700 students in the school so any help is greatly appreciated!

We would like to thank you in advance for your support.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email (ccepta@gmail.com), Facebook or drop a note in our PTA box in the front office!

Sincerely,

Jenny Granger
